Abstract The doctoral research developed at PPGCOM-ESPM analyzes experiences related to the sociocommunicational (in)visibilities of LGBTIQ+ immigrants and refugees residents in the city of São Paulo. The theoretical contributions are divided into three main axes: a) Communication, consumption and citizenship; b) Globalization and migration flows; c) Studies on gender and sexuality and LGBTIQ+ migration. The methodology, of a qualitative nature, assumes a multi-methodological aspect that includes: a) bibliographic research; b) data collection, having as participant observation procedures, the application of the semi-structured interview and the data collection in a digital environment; and c) analysis of empirical data, based on a descriptive and interpretative perspective that draws from the empirical data the dimensions related to sociocommunicational (in)visibilities in the experiences of LGBTIQ+ immigrants and refugees in São Paulo. Therefore, the objective of the Research Internship abroad is to broaden the scope of research to two global cities (São Paulo and Barcelona), allowing the comparison between two different socio-cultural contexts in terms of the acceptance of LGBTIQ+ immigrants and refugees. In the stay abroad, it is hoped to strengthen the methodological process with different actions: a) Expansion of the theoretical references; b) Field research: semi-structured interviews (between 8 and 10) with LGBTIQ+ immigrants and refugees in Barcelona and exploration of the activities of specific social organizations to carry out case studies; c) Descriptive analysis of the information collected in the field work and interpretation based on the extended theoretical reflection. | |
