Abstract

This project is justified 1) in the investment in public dialogues in controversial subjects in a serious moment of polarization of opinions in our society; 2) in the lack of studies on public dialogues and on the theme of gender and sexuality in education in Brazil; 3) positive results in the use of this methodology in previous studies; and, 4) in the originality of facilitating dialogues with the purpose of building joint actions. Therefore, the objective of this project is to understand the process of facilitating public dialogues on gender and sexuality in education among people with different and polarized opinions on the subject. Specifically, it seeks to understand the effects of the use of the strategies of facilitation of dialogues of the Project of Public Conversations (PCP) in this theme. Between 10 and 30 people will be invited to participate in six dialogue meetings that will take place over six months, facilitated by specialists in the city of Ribeirão Preto, SP. Individuals with different opinions on the subject, who occupy diverse social places and with the possibility of taking decisions in situations of conflict and of putting into practice actions that have potential of social transformation, being able to be members of conservative social groups and movements and religious leaders, municipal education managers, teachers, representatives of parents, and representatives of student organizations, and members of the city's legislative and executive. The meetings will be audiographed and transcribed in full and their content will be organized from the social constructionist proposal of thematic-sequential delimitation and analyzed from the proposal of sense production analysis. It is hoped that from this project it will be possible to know strategies of conversation that serve as prevention ways to avoid conflicts of opinions involving the theme gender and sexual diversity at school by contributing with the emergence of flexibility to open new ideas and actions.
