Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is one of the most frequently observed endocrinopathies in small animal medicine, presenting itself, in majority, as insulin dependent in dogs and non-insulin-dependent in cats. The condition requires life-long treatment, which, if not properly conducted, considering every individual's particularities, communly results in complications. There's little amount of current scientific information describing the faulty treatment's development in this condition, as well as quantifyng and qualifyng the influence, direct or indirect, of each one of them on the mortality rates and quality of life related to these patients.
