Abstract

In his texts on aesthetics, Adorno presents literature as an important object of study, in which social and historical factors are part of the components for the performance of the work and thus demonstrate the social and historical trends of the period in which it is developed. The aim of this project is to expose Theodor Adorno's critical analysis of Aldous Huxley's dystopic novel entitled Brave New World. Huxley's novel was a bestseller of the twentieth century, recognized for its strong critical bias. Adorno gives us another key of reading, demonstrating the internal contradictions of the work and the author's own pretension by questioning the fetishized conception of technique as well as the romantic view of the individual in Huxley.
