Abstract

Candidiasis is a fungal infection caused by yeast of the genus Candida. When developed in the oral mucosa this infection may be related to poor hygiene of the prosthesis, which facilitates the formation of biofilms, which in turn promotes protection against antifungal drugs, thus rendering the microorganism resistant to antifungal therapy. This study aims to determine the Susceptibility profile to fluconazole and nystatin of samples of the genus Candida collected from dental prostheses of patients attended at the odontology clinic of Universidade do Oeste Paulista (UNOESTE), after the formation of biofilms on resin surface at polymethylmethacrylate base. Samples capable of forming biofilms on a resin surface based on polymethylmethacrylate will be studied. After the formation of the biofilm, a will be carried out the antifungal Susceptibility test using the AFST-EUCAST microdilution method. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of each drug will be determined and the statistical analysis will be performed by the SPSS 19.0 program by the Mann-Whitney or Kruskal-Wallis test.
