Abstract

The global context reveals that the indiscriminate use of macrocyclic lactones, such as ivermectin, in the control of endoparasites in small ruminants, has selected a resistant and pathogenic gastrointestinal nematode of sheep, Haemonchus contortus. It is expected an improvement in the pharmacological characteristics of these drug, by the association of essential oils with the possibility of decreasing the activity of resistance mechanism. The objective of this work will be to evaluate the anthelmintic activity of ivermectin combined with essential oils under H. contortus of multiresistant strain to determine the activity given by CL50. The following oils will be evaluated: cinnamaldehyde, anethole, carvone, carvacrol and thymol mixed with ivermectin to increase the action. The most effective anthelmintic activity will be determined by the lower CL50 found.
