Abstract

Currently, the development of efficient, low-cost multifunctional materials is quite disseminated in the scientific field. In this way, research is being directed at the reutilization of biomass residues or biomaterials that are abundantly available in the environment, mainly biomass from industrial activities. The use of multifunctional materials in the field of biomedicine is quite attractive, due to the structural and textural properties of these materials, which have micro/nanometric dimensions, high surface area, diameter of pores and the possibility of chemical decoration of the surface of these materials. In this project, the biomedical potential of functionalized bioactive mesoporous nanoparticles hydroxyapatite based on silica extracted from biomass. The objective is to obtain materials with low-cost and economically sustainable from biomasses. On the other hand, these materials containing bioactive drugs will be applied in the biomedical area, mainly in the controlled release of the dexamethasone, which has the osteogenic effect in the differentiation of stem cells in osteoblasts in the engineering of bone tissue.
