Abstract

Skin wounds are impairments that need careful thought when it comes to choosing the best route of treatment. Each type of injury has different needs to heal properly, including an adequate dressing. Along the past decade there have been efforts to develop new types of bandages capable of delivering the required properties for proper wound healing. One of the main focus of study is the design of thermoreversible hydrogel-based systems that are capable of drug delivery. Thermoreversibility is characterized by a liquid mixture of polymers that turns to gel state when applied in situ. The focus of this project is to develop a thermoreversible hydrogel liquid bandage loaded with terbinafine, an antifungal agent, to treat fungal skin infections. (AU)
