Abstract

The relevant losses - material and human - caused by accidents involving industrial explosions motivate the development of computational tools robust enough to simulate and to prevent these events. Currently, the lack of national software and the difficulty in predicting cases of explosions are obstacles that need to be overcome to keep the Brazilian industrial park protected from tragedies involving explosions and fire. In this path, this project aims the validation of the code PFS (Porosity Flow Solver) under development at the School of Chemical Engineering - Unicamp, which models the gas explosion in complex geometries, as well as the improvement of the combustion model, reducing the level of empiricism of the characteristic length of flame wrinkling.
