Abstract

One of the current problems in Thermodynamics is to obtain protocols that minimize energy dissipation when a given time-finite thermodynamic process is performed. On the other hand, the techniques used in literature to achieve this end lack generality, either because they do not enter arbitrarily far-from-equilibrium regions or because they are unable to deal with general systems, thus restricting themselves to very few examples. This project proposes machine learning techniques as a new tool for this scenario. We will thus study examples in arbitrarily far-from-equilibrium regions using evolutionary programming techniques already well developed in the literature to obtain these optimal protocols.
