Abstract

The 3D printing process by cast polymer deposition modeling and the supply of open source projects enable rapid prototyping. However, there is great variability in the structural performance of printed parts. The present proposal aims to study the effects of different printing parameters, such as extrusion velocity, extruder nozzle diameter, and fill types on the tensile mechanical behavior of printed parts using a Cartesian 3D printer already designed and constructed with the participation of the grant holder. Studying the ways of production, control and quality of the machine is essential for the growth of technology and another important point is the study of the properties of the products that are created by the printer. This study will use techniques such as X-ray diffractometric and microanalysis by dispersive energy to characterize the pigments used in filament staining, thermal analysis and infrared spectrometry for determination of polymer properties, optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy combined for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of fractures by correlative fractography. This project aims, therefore, to improve the mechanical performance of parts obtained by 3D printing, contributing to the improvement of its employment in small companies of the aeronautical sector and schools of technical education.
