Abstract

Severe early childhood caries is a worrisome public health problem that causes loss of tooth and others tissues. This loss motivates research in the field of tissue engineering, with biomaterials, with the intention of regenerating the structure and reestablishing form and function. The use of new nanocomposite materials for the manufacture of prosthetic devices, matrices for the filling of bone defects, matrices for the protection of tooth pulp tissue and exposed dentin tubules can significantly contribute to the quality of life of this population. The present project aims to obtain the synthesis, development and characterization of new nanocomposite materials obtained from the incorporation of nanoparticles of sodium trimetaphosphate decorated with silver nanoparticles in polymer matrices polyamide-6 (PA6) and to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of the PA6 and TMP-Ag nanocomposites. The strict control of size and shape of nanoparticles will be done. Next, the TMP will be prepared and decorated with silver nanoparticles with the proportions (m / m) of 0.5, 1 and 3% (mass of silver nitrate salt in relation to the mass of TMP) in which the nanometric TMP processed by high energy milling will be added in AgNO3 and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) solutions. The production of the PA6 nanofibers associated with TMP-Ag will be electrophased in an electrospinning apparatus. After the preparation of the nanocomposites will be carried out the tests of quantification of the cultivable cells and determination of halo of inhibition. The data will be analyzed for their distribution (normality and homogeneity) before determining the appropriate statistical test. If it is possible to use parametric tests, the data will be analyzed by ANOVA (repeated measures) and Tukey's test. Otherwise, the Kruskall-Wallis and Dunn tests will be used. The level of significance adopted will be 5%.
