Abstract

The supply of high amounts of rumen degradable protein (RDP) in the diet may constitute a high energetic cost for the ruminant to resynthesize urea, as well as represent a potency for increasing the efficiency of N utilization, since this surplus can be excreted in the urine. In this context, protein sources with low ruminal degradability (NRDP) become interesting to increase the efficiency of N use in the rumen, due to the lower N release during ruminal fermentation, which confer nutritional, economic and environmental benefits in the production of beef cattle. The project aims to evaluate the effect of inclusion of PNDR sources on the performance and carcass yield of confined Nellore cattle.
