Abstract

The present project consists of analyzing the relationship between the level of market integration and self - consumption of family farmers' food security, with the municipality of Campina do Monte Alegre in São Paulo as the empirical universe. For this purpose, the Market Integration Index (IIM) will be used as a methodological instrument, designed to estimate the proportions between self-consumption and products delivered in a market by the familiar rural property. This index will be contrasted with the Brazilian Food Insecurity Scale (EBIA), by rural domicile, and in an ancillary form related to other socioeconomic variables that may influence the level of food security of farmers. The present research project focuses on the incorporation of descriptors and indexes that represent an advance of the food security research schedule. In this way, the aim is to understand that other variables interfere in the food security conditions of family farmers, which allows them to become an instrument for improving the effectiveness of public policies for food security specific to the Brazilian rural environment.
