Abstract

The research project proposes the development and application of a method for evaluate resilience in urban mobility, based on the use of non motorized modes (walking and cycling) and focused on the municipalities of the state of São Paulo. Using the 2010 statistical grid, distances between cell pairs will be calculated, limited to maximum possible distances (DMPs) of 5 and 12 km for walking and cycling, respectively. The distances between cells within a municipality will be aggregated by their arithmetic mean, yielding a hypothetical circular area that could be served by non-motorized modes. By calculating the proportion between this area and the urbanized area, it will be possible to obtain a measure of urban resilience, which will later be related to the respective motorization rates of each municipality. In the end, the quantification, monitoring and analysis of the urban form will be carried out, through spatial indicators, which will mainly address the method presented by Galster (2001), with the intention of relating the urban form with the measures of resilience initially obtained.
