Abstract

The osseointegrated implant therapy is an efficient clinical approach with high levels of success relying on the osseointegration process. The necessity of rehabilitation in short time and long-term success, the electromagnetic fields (PEMF) application on osseointegration has been the subject of studies. This non-invasive therapy has many positive aspects of effective on formation and amount of bone contact with the implant surface in less time, increase in the degree of mineralization and bone maturation. It was also observed increase in initial adhesion, proliferation and osteoblast differentiation and expression of genes associated with osteogenesis. However is noticed that this therapy did not result in a significant improvement of the osseointegration and healing process. Thus, using protocols involving different parameters of the electromagnetic field is questioned on the available results.Thereby is important it becomes even verify the possibility of a protocol to use toguide an optimal parameters for osseointegration. For this, 60 animals (Rattus norvegicus, variation albinus, Wistar) will be used and randomized into three experimental groups: control, test A and test B. All animals will receive implants in both tibias and PEMF applied only in the test groups. The experimental period will last 67 days and 4 euthanasia periods. The femurs will be separated and prepared for in vitro biological tests. The data will be tabulated and applied appropriate statistical tests, with 5% significance level.
