Abstract

Headaches are one of the most common neurological disorder among women. Some headaches, like migraine with aura, may have some connection with the female hormonal level and they may have its pattern changed during ovarian cycle, because the changes in the estrogen and progesterone levels. The use of oral contraception with estrogen in women with headache is an important study subject, because there is a connection between the use and the increased risk of cerebrovascular isquemic and thrombotic events, like stroke. The following study aims to evaluate the frequency of the use of oral contraceptives among college female students with headache or migraine with and without aura and to compare, among them, the number, lasting, intensity of the headache episodes and the probable occurrence of vascular events, as well as to correlate these information with the kind of contraceptive used. The data will be obtained through the application of a pre-prepared questionnaire among college female student in the age group 18-35 years.
