Abstract

This internship postdoctoral research is part of my principal project "Ways of living, home decorating: producers, customers and goods in São Paulo mid-twentieth century". This study aims to explain the historical conditions of consumption of artistic and commercial goods related to the domestic space, by considering the relations between social segmentation, symbolic hierarchies, spatial differentiation and international circulations of agents, ideas and products. A fundamental step for the reflexive and empirical development of the current post-doctoral project, this scholarships abroad has four objectives: 1. the collection of sources and archives on goods and agents that circulate between the two countries; 2. the acquisition of theoretical reflections on cultural transfers that make up the global history of the vanguard; 3. the acquisition of new methodological, cartographic and computer tools for processing a transnational object; 4. the presentation and discussion of partial conclusions of research in different academic spaces. To realize the French part of this study, I will be attached to the research group Artl@as, which is directed by Béatrice Joyeux-Prunel and located at the École Normale Supérieure (ENS). The group is recognized for the proposal of research methods and tools in digital humanities and responsible for building databases on the vanguard international circulation. I will contribute to updating these platforms by providing data on architects, decorators and designers concerning my research. (AU)
