Abstract

The orthopedic affections that require specialized surgical procedures for bone tissue replacement are frequent both in veterinary and human medicine. Therefore, it is not uncommon for orthopedists to encounter long- bone fractures, bone neoplasms or non-fracture joints, which require repairing surgical treatment with the use of bone graft or natural and/or synthetic implant. The aim of this research is to develop and analyze scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and cytotoxicity test, 24 composites constituted of cTHMBM (canine trabecular heterologous mineralized bone matrix) and bTHMBM (bovine trabecular heterologous mineralized bone matrix) associated with autoclaved and non-autoclaved. It is expected to be able to construct and analyze composites composed of cTHMBM and bTHMBM associated with PMMA with potential clinical application that can be used as an alternative in the repair of orthopedic lesions with high bone loss, with satisfactory results, low cost, easy acquisitions, and access, improving the quality of life of patients.
