Abstract

The project objective is to establish a research program aiming the study and development of alternatives of solid urban residues recycling based on the production of high-quality organic compost to be used in agriculture, parks and gardens. This initiative is part of the Project "Reciclar Verde" that operates public and private agents because of a FAPESP's research in public politics (FAPESP 2016/50198-0). The main objective is gathering available techniques in compost science to install and operates a composting unit to produce high quality organomineral fertilizer. This will allow studies of different treatment systems and screening the population of microorganisms to understand, identify and optimize the processes; test new formulas of nutrient mixture and test physical-chemical quality of compost and organomineral. Composting is widely employed in the treatment of organic residues and in this context; existing knowledge will take place in order to optimize the process. IAC was a national reference in studies concerning the reuse of residues (biosolids, vinasse, etc.) and the scholarship holder will act in three axes: basic research (study of compost process), applied research (new types and mixtures of organomineral) and human resources training (act as advisor of undergraduate and graduate students).
