Abstract

The present project proposes a research internship abroad as part of the FAPESP master's scholarship (Sage code process: 2017/07301-7). It intends to realize a research internship in the Department of Cultural and Social Anthropology of the University of Amsterdam aiming to deepenthe theoretical discussions that emerged from the tensions between bibliographic materials and field research materials in Brazil, as well as to get in touch with recent academic productions and bibliographical resources available at the institution. The main focus will be the analytical methodological treatment of the biological, considering its implications in the understandings of the body itself. The secondary objectives will be: (1) to investigate how the analytical treatment of the biological body from an approach that takes into account the mediations and technologies differs from a perspectivalist and constructivist view; (2) to analyze diverse understanding of the body in social theory when it changes the analytical and methodological focus on biology and (3) to deepen the theoretical debate around the practices being taken as a unit of analysis.
