Abstract

The European Research Council - NAMO - project brings together a team of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland. Working with a broad network of leading foreign and domestic partners, the team conducts humanist research on core concepts of historical thinking from across European, Asian, North American, and Latin American traditions of theory and philosophy of history. The research output will be presented on a sophisticated digital platform in a multimedia design. Using analytics software, the project pursues a novel process of scholarly innovation for the humanities by relying on digital reader feedback to uncover real-time conceptual connections between contents, and using the feedback for setting new directions for further research on the project's foci. From the NAMO project derives the "Core Concepts of Historical Thinking" (CORE), a digital platform delivering a comprehensive study of approximately 500 core concepts of historical thinking, it is envisioned that the team over the three-year period will produce four doctoral dissertations, two habilitation degrees, three scientific articles, and one monograph. The outcome is foremost a scholarly engagement by the team in Poland with a considerable international and domestic network of leading scholars, a significant contribution towards developing a new form of digital humanities, and a major cross-cultural study on humanist conceptual history, which aims to move the modern university towards a broader intellectual basis on a global scale. It should be noted, finally, that the proposal submitted includes the participation of the candidate as a co-author of the concepts of Neo-Latin languages, a task that will only be possible with the support of FAPESP.
