Abstract

Nosocomial infections are becoming increasingly important in veterinary medicine, since they pose risks to patients and public health, creating high rates of mortality and morbid, besides potential risk of zoonotic transmission. Many studies have been carried out in medicine relating infections with fomites, such as cellular devices, which have become indispensable in the modern society. However, little is known about this specific topic in veterinary medicine. Thus, the objective of this study is to evaluate the susceptibilities of bacterial isolates found in hospital surgical environment, especially in the cellular devices, against the main antimicrobials used in the routine. For this, routine antimicrobial susceptibility tests (antibiogram) will be carried out, based on bacterial isolated obtained from samples collected from the hands and cellular devices of the veterinary doctors working in the field of surgical clinic and anesthesiology, veterinary nurse, intern and guardians of the animals, in addition to the surgical table and the region of surgical incision of the patients soon after the procedure. It's expected that with the results obtained it will be possible to correlate the susceptibility of microorganisms to antimicrobials with the presence of cellular devices in the surgical center and hospital infections.
