Abstract

The gradual improvement in survival in sepsis is a fact, especially in developed countries, and it has been attributed to increases in speed for diagnosis, antibiotic therapy, volume replacement and attention in general care. However, the occurrence of high mortality in the post-recovery period of sepsis has been persistent and is one of the main focuses of attention. The purpose of this study is to the identification of remaining circulatory dysfunction in sepsis survivors macro, regional and microcirculatory level. Methods: Wistar-EPM rats, females 3 to 4 months, 200g to 300g in weight, called the Sepsis Group (GS) will be submitted to endovenous sepsis of 2 ml E. coli 108 CFU / ml under general anesthesia (approximately 50-60% mortality in 27 hours). They will then be monitored at the acute sepsis: T = 3h, T = 6h (n = 3 / period); and the survivors at T = 1 month (n = 5 / period). The Control Groups will be composed of Naive animals (GN)to obtain baseline parameters at T = 0 (n = 3) and Group SF animals (injection of saline) will be monitored in the same GS period (n = 3 / period). Monitoring will be carried out in the determined periods as to: Macrohemodynamics (MAP, DC, FC); (renal artery, superior mesenteric and celiac trunk, renal vein, portal and inferior vena cava) by means of pressure transducers and probes (Transonic System Inc. TS420). Microhemodynamic Parameters by BLF 21 laser Doppler flow meter (tissue perfusion unit of the kidney, liver and terminal ileum) and microcirculatory evaluation of the same organs by Sidestream Dark Field Imaging in the determined periods, whose images will be processed by the program AVA 3.0. At the end of the monitoring, the animals will be sacrificed under general anesthesia.
