Abstract Lidocaine is the most commonly used local anesthetic in dentistry worldwide, one of the oldest sodium channel blockers we have on the market, and is considered the safest amide local anesthetic. Nevertheless, it may cause some side effects on the cardiovascular system and the central nervous system, especially when accidental administration occurs directly in the blood vessel, being the association with vasoconstrictors, mainly adrenaline, a strategy to minimize these effects. Data will be collected from 10 patients who will receive, in two different dental appointments for scraping and corono-radicular polishing, a sulcular infiltrative injection in the upper molar region of a lidocaine tube with or without adrenaline 1: 100,000 for the pharmacokinetic study (PK) in saliva samples, by LC MS / MS. For pharmacodynamic parameters (PD), variations in blood pressure, oximetry and heart rate during the procedure, as well as the onset and duration of local anesthesia in soft tissues will be evaluated. | |
