Abstract

The following project aims to assure the extension and a greater stability in the research results on a master's research currently being developed in Brazil. While the main project objective was identifying along the press aspects that prove the building of Fidel Castro's public image in Cuba during the period of 1952-1959, we seek in this proposal ensure a wider and more assertive vision able to sustain the present research in Brazil. Thereunto, there is a need for a research internship in the University of Florida, in Gainesville, to access valuable key documents from its library collection that have been proven as essential to researches in Brazil. By not having those documents - among them: complete editions of the Revista Bohemia, including Fidel Castro's articles; Noticias de Hoy; Verde Olivo; and much more -, the University of Florida is the best place to receive the support necessary for this research, providing materials that we could not have by other means, besides, of course, having an important Center for Latin-American Studies whose works could enrich our research and professors who are reference for studies about the history, politics and society in Caribe, as the Professor Lillian Guerra - who have accepted supervise and contribute to this project.
