The aim of this study was to evaluate the torsional and bending resistance of Nickel-Titanium (NiTi) instruments used for cervical flaring during root canal preparation. For this study, it will be used a total of 100 NiTi rotary instruments (n=20): Sx Protaper Universal, Orifice Shaper Mk Life 17.08, Orifice Shaper Blue Mk Life 17.12, Mtwo 25.07 e Orifice Shaper Wizard Navigator 25.12. The torsional test will be performed according the specification ISO 3630-1. The aim of this test is evaluate the maximum torsional strength and angular deflection to fracture the 3 mm of the instrument's tip. The bending test will be performed in the same equipment; however, the test will be used to evaluate the strength demanded to bend the 7 mm of the instrument's tip in 30º. All the fractured instruments will be evaluated by Scanning Electron Microscopy to evaluate the topographic features of the surfaces. The statistical analysis will be performed to evaluate possible significant difference among the instruments.
