Abstract

The Knowledge Organization field deals constantly with processes that allow accessing information, which is in a social context and is permeated by values, presupposing an ethical dimension. The analysis of the scientific literature in this theme could be relevant to investigate which researches have been done and which scientific revolutions occurred on this field, based on Kuhn's work (1962). In these perspective, the main question of this research is: which scientific revolutions occurred in the dimension of ethics in knowledge organization and the possible paradigms broken since the beginning of the publications in these scope, in the 70's?. The present project proposes the developing of research activities at Faculty of Information and Media Studies in the Western University (London - Canada), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Grant Campbell, who currently investigates the theoretical aspects of knowledge organization, specially on issues about the ethical nature related with practices as the process of cataloging, classification and indexing.
