Abstract

Artificial barriers have been created across time due to the human demographic and economic growth. In case of aquatic ecosystems, it is known that distinct kind of anthropogenic perturbations influence on biota composition and structuration, and pollution is an important factor that modifies the regional ichthyofauna. Previous studies carried out in the Tietê River, which presents a long history of degradation, indicate the occurrence of differential distribution of the organisms in the regional scale, without any natural or artificial barriers. In this context, the aim of this study is to evaluate the dispersion limitations for the fish species between the Tietê River (middle-superior stretch) and its tributaries (Sorocaba, Capivari and Peixes), as a consequence of water pollution. We will carry out the fish communities' inventories in the selected environments, as well as their ecological attributes, the determination of limnological and water quality parameters and the molecular analyses that indicate genetical structuration (population level) of a target species with high dispersion capacity. We expect that our results contribute to development of a monitoring and management proposal focused on ichthyofauna conservation. (AU)
