Abstract The proposal of this project will lead to a significant leap in multidisciplinary research in electroceramics with multifunctional properties, contributing directly to the Energy and Environment research areas of the FAPESP / CEPID Project - CDMF 2013 / 07296-2. In a recent literature review, there was no reported work on the application of hybrid nanomaterials based on nanocrystalline cellulose polymer structures modified with rare-earth oxides, in particular cerium oxide (CeO2), for multifunctional applications such as negative rechargeable battery electrode and environmental sensing. This project provides for the obtainment of hybrid nanostructures from renewable sources for applications in key technologies for the future, and its structural, morphological and electrochemical properties will be analyzed by what that correspond to the state-of-the-art with respect to the characterization of nanostructured electroceramic materials, aiding in the issues related to the problem of intoxication due to the inhalation of carbon monoxide (COg), which corresponds to the most common type of poisoning of the 21st century. The project contemplates the synthesis by the Microwave-Assisted Hydrothermal method (HAM), the deposition of thin films by the screen-printing technique through a CNC device, developed by collaborating researchers of the National University of Mar del Plata (UNMdP), Argentina, (AR2015P103953, BR1020160283833), as well as in potentiostat, installed in the Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Electrochemistry and Ceramics (LIEC), in addition to their structural, microstructural, morphological and electrical characterizations.
