Abstract

In this research project, we intend to investigate exact/approximate solution approaches to the integrated lot-sizing and cutting stock problem. The main goal is to study and implement solution methods, for solving the mathematical models, based on branch-and-bound procedures, decomposition approaches and/or relaxations, in order to explore the particularities of the mathematical models and use these methods by taking into account the advantage of their strengths. Other area of interest in this project is the integration of the integrated lot-sizing and cutting stock problem with other important aspects/stages of the production process, such as the scheduling decisions that arise in the cutting of objects and the production of products, as well as the supply selection of these objects used in the cutting process or the distribution decisions regarding to the transportation from the production plant to distribution centers/customers.
