Abstract

The research proposes to reflect on the place of memory and identity related to work and the worker in the field of cultural heritage in the years 2000. For this purpose, it establishes as object the performance of the organs of patrimony in all its levels, Unesco, Iphan, Condephaat and Conpresp, from the reflection on four case studies: the Vila of Paranapiacaba, the Vila Euclides Stadium, the Factory and Vila Brasital, and the Factory of the Companhia Nitro Química Brasileira, all registered or under study of recognition in the years 2000. We will seek to reflect from three aspects: from the created narratives on its history; of the representation of these copies to the social subjects involved; and the attribution of value in official recognition. The years 2000 are a time marked by a conceptual revision on the patrimony, in which one seeks to incorporate territories, practices and social groups representative of the Brazilian cultural plurality. However, a critical analysis of the performance of these agencies in this period indicates that there are still many challenges to be overcome, such as the valuation of individuals in peripheral territories, and the identity and memory of non-hegemonic social groups such as workers. In this way, we will understand the official recognition and its management instruments as agents in the propagation of a discourse, capable of constructing a vision on which values are possible to be considered heritage. The central question of the research is to question the extent to which the conceptual extension of the heritage, defended from the 2000s, was reflected in more comprehensive actions of official recognition, questioning the paths taken in the attribution of value to the universe of work by the patrimony policies of the present time.
