Abstract

Drying when carried out in an equipment called spray dryer, allows to obtain a powdered product from the atomization of the feed material in a drying chamber with high temperature. On the other hand, obtaining a niobium precursor on a larger scale requires an alteration in the conventional drying process with the use of equipment to ensure that the characteristics of the product, such as morphology, catalytic activity and, in this case, photocatalytic, be achieved. The proposal of change in the drying step for the process of obtaining precursors, which is mostly carried out in a conventional kiln, for the atomization drying, in a spray dryer, can be an interesting alternative to obtain a greater amount of precursor (composite after drying is calcined to increase its catalytic activity). The evaluation of the performance, efficiency and operating conditions of the equipment can bring relevant information regarding the viability of production in a larger scale and is one of the objectives of this research project. Of fundamental importance is the knowledge and in-depth study of heat and mass transport properties, for the future, to design, model and simulate the process, aiming at the industrial application of photocalisers based on niobium. The resources needed to carry out this project were granted by FAPESP, Project Aid (process 2017 / 03428-2).
