Abstract

Recent researches are focusing on the improvement of surface treatment of biomaterials to promote an early integration, shortening the post-surgery period. Several trials have been performed to modify surface properties and improve integration and stability. The association between antioxidants and modified biomaterials have been considered, and among them lycopene is suggested to favour bone metabolism. The purpose of this investigation is to evaluate the stimulatory potential in the functional activity of osteoblast-like cells (MC3T3-E1) cultured on nanotexturized titanium discs in the presence of lycopene. There will be used MC3E3-T1 cell line cultured until subconfluence followed by their seeding in 24-well plates in a concentration of 2x104 (n=5) and divided in 4 groups: control without lycopene (C), control + 1mol/L lycopene diluted in culture medium (C/LIC); nanutexturized (N) and nanotexturized + 1mol/L lycopene diluted in culture medium (N/LIC). After 3, 7 and 10 days, there will be evaluated cell adhesion and proliferation as well as the funcional activity through protein expression seen by means of imunolocalization. Quantitative data will be evaluated by adequate statistical test with the significance set at 5%.
