Abstract

Boron is the main micronutrient required by cotton, whose deficiency reduces its productive potential, being more common the deficiency in sandy soils and with low organic matter content. The objective of the study will be to evaluate the response of the cotton to the predecessor cover crops and boron fertilizer in cotton cover via soil. The experimental design will be in randomized blocks, in subdivide plots scheme, with four replications. The plots will be composed by the cover crops (millet, mucuna, millet + mucuna and fallow (conventional tillage)). The subplots will be composed of the doses of boron (0, 1, 2, 4 and 6 kg ha-1). At cover plants time desiccation, on sowing of cotton crop and 40 days after the emergence of the cotton, plant material will be collected from the cover plants to determine the accumulation of dry matter and boron levels in the plant tissue. In the full flowering of the cotton will be performed foliar diagnosis of boron in the plant tissue and indirect measurements of chlorophyll content. At 40, 80 and 120 days after emergence of cotton will be determined accumulation of dry matter and boron in the plant. In the full flowering of the cotton and at maturity, plant height, main stem diameter, number of nodes and branch length will be evaluated. At the maturity of the cotton will determine the components of production and yield.
