Abstract

The fifth edition of Manual Diagnosis and Statistical Mental Disorders (DSM-5) presents an Alternative Model for Personality Disorders, which approaches the personality functioning through the traits. In order to test the new dimensional model of personality's understanding in its domains and facets, a new dimensional appraisal tool was proposed for the non-adaptive personality traits, known as Personality Inventory to DSM-5 (Personality Inventory for DSM-5, PID-5). PID-5 presents excellent psychometric qualities and it has been used in several cultures. So far, it hasn't been translated and evaluated from a psychometric perspective in Brazilian Portuguese. The main aim is to present PID-5's cross-cultural process of adaptation for our own context and study its psychometrics qualities of validity and reliability. This study will be divided into two distinct phases: a) Phase 1 - Translation and adaptation process of PID-5: the project will be translated by three independent translators; translations' synthesis by two judges; back-translation by an experienced bilingual researcher; evaluation by the Expert Committee (composed by five experts) and submission to the author/editor of the original article for a final evaluation; b) Phase 2 - PID-5's psychometric study: a sample composed by 2200 individuals from the population in general. Also, it will be analyzed the Internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha), concurrent and divergent validity (regarding the Revised NEO Personality Inventory instrument), confirmatory factorial analysis and test-retest reliability. The data will be collected individually and analyzed by IBM SPSS statistical program, using a p d 0.05 significance, for all analyzes levels. (AU)
