Abstract

Printed electronics presents great potential for sensors developing that can be manufactured directly in personal adornments, cards, packaging and others. Zinc oxide (ZnO) films, obtained by printing organic precursor solutions or by printing nanoparticles dispersion, have been widely studied as UV radiation and gas sensor. Among the various gases that can be detected by ZnO-based sensors the oxygen stands out. Indeed, there is great interest in oxygen sensors operating at low temperatures for different concentrations. For example, its detection is so important in environments that contain high oxygen concentration because of the risk of explosion, and also in low concentration because the harmful to health. The goal of this project is to use ZnO films deposited by spray pyrolysis as an oxygen sensor assisted by UV radiation, that is, to obtain a sensor whose thermal activation is replaced by UV radiation operating at low temperatures. The main focus is the relaxation times and the responsivity studies of photoresistors, and transistors with different gate polarizations. The response of these devices will be characterized in an atmosphere with differents oxygen and humidity concentrations, and also, will be evaluated the possibility of moisture independent oxygen detection.
