Abstract

Although widely used in human medicine, videolaparoscopy minimally invasive surgeries are still little studied in veterinary medicine, the clinical and laboratory repercussion after the procedure are still unclear. The fact that the technique has been applied in dogs and cats for a few years, its indications, results and complications are poorly understood in veterinary medicine. Changes in liver function tests after laparoscopic cholecystectomy have not yet been described, nor is it discussed whether such changes are expected and transient or are associated with complications. The knowledge of possible laboratory alterations associated with laparoscopic cholecystectomy will be useful to better choose the technique and approach the patient after the procedure. The present study will evaluate the enzymatic and biochemical parameters indicative of hepatic function in the pre and postoperative periods in rabbits submitted to laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Thus, 20 rabbits will be used as an experimental model; the total blood collection for subsequent processing will be done on all animals on days 0, 3, 7 and 15. The collected material will go through the analyzes of: total protein, albumin, GGT, FA, ALT,AST, total bilirubin, direct bilirubin and hemogram in order to measure possible changes in the reference values. All samples will be evaluated and tabulated. Complications occurring during or after the surgical procedure will be described. Thus, it is aimed to know and report changes in laboratory tests of liver function that may occur after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
