Abstract

The implementation of the National Curricular Common Base, together with the reform of secondary education, is a mark in Brazilian education as it seeks to standardize the curricula of all schools and changes the existing school organization, providing secondary education in areas of knowledge. With these measures, some chemistry contents currently taught in high school can be altered in order to meet the nature sciences area, for example the concepts of redox reactions. In this sense, the research seeks to investigate how the process of BNCC implementation of secondary education in schools in the city of São Paulo will take place, and how the content of redox reactions changes in this new high school model. This is a qualitative research with a longitudinal approach. Five public and private schools in the city of São Paulo will be selected and a case study will be conducted to identify how the content of redox reactions is addressed before and after BNCC implementation. Curriculum theories and content analysis assumptions will be used to infer, at the end of the research, which changes will be made in school curricula to suit BNCC and the new high school. (AU)
