Abstract

This project proposes the analysis of four pieces from both North and South-American musicians and sound artists which, through different means, imply a compositional act of listening. Among the many different practices in which this might occur, our research emphasizes artistic practices which creatively engage listening of the everyday sounds that surround the listener, considering the idea of non-fictional music as proposed by Jennie Gottschalk in her book Experimental Music Since 1970 (2016). Through these examples and analysis, we intend to provide consistency to the arguments developed in our current Master's dissertation.
