Abstract

From two central nuclei of Jacques Lacan's theory, namely, "the problem of identity and identification" (1961/62) and "phantasm logic" (1966/67), the present research aims to provide formalizations that welcome the phantasmatic processes carried out in collectivity. We intend to advance in a problem that crosses Psychoanalysis and Political Philosophy since its beginnings, namely, the epistemological gap that refers to the passage from the 'individual and singular' register to the 'collective, universal and hegemonic' register of phantasmatic constructions. With the formalizations we establish theoretical and epistemological tools for the understanding of individual and collective identity dynamics, political action, and new subjective constructions. The thesis to be supported is that Lacan's notion of phantasm is not only a concept dear to the clinic, but can be articulated as a fundamental political category. In our journey, a broad inflection with Political Philosophy and with contemporary theories of discourse will be included, which articulate the theme of identity, discourse and identification in a conceptual matrix unified with the Psychoanalytic Theory, mainly authors such as Slavoj Zizek, Yannis Stavrakakis, Vladimir Safatle and, above all, Ernesto Laclau.
