Abstract

TITLE: Cell cycle control in normal and malignant cells, new approach in cancer therapy.ABSTRACTThis project is focused on experimental proof of concept of the following hypothesis: malignant cells, but not normal cells, are killed by certain combinations of a mitogen plus an inhibitor targeting a specific stress pathway. This hypothesis was first proposed in a recent paper of our laboratory (Dias et al, Molecular Oncology, 2019). The project experimental approach involves analysis of a panel of tumor cell lines from humans and rodents in cell cultures ("in vitro") and in mice ("in vivo"). Rodent tumor cells will be inoculated in immune-competent Balb/c mice, whereas human tumor cells will be inoculated in immune-deficient Balb-Nude mice.
