Evaluation of the new polidioxanona membrane in guided bone regeneration

Abstract

Among surgical protocols for the repair/reconstruction of critical-size bone defects, the use of bone grafting or alloplastic materials are indicated for these cases. However, the presence of alloplastic materials may in some way positively or negatively affect the repair process into respective host. The aim of this study is to evaluate imaging analysis of bone repair in bone defects created in calvarium of rats using different bioceramics for bone regeneration. Sixteen (16) adult male rats will be randomly divided into two groups, in accordance with bone defect filling material D1: Biphasic Bioceramic (M3 Health®) + resorbable polydioxanone membrane (PDO); D2: clot with PDO; D3: Biphasic Bioceramic (M3 Health®) + resorbable membrane (Bio-Gide®); D4: clot with Bio-Gide®. The animal will be submimetted to 1 computadorized digital microtomogram, performed at intervals of 60, and, will be euthanized at 60 days. Data will be submitted to variance homogeneity and normality tests to choose between parametric or non-parametric tests. Intergroup comparisons will be performed to parametric data by One-way ANOVA and Tukey's post-test, and non-parametric data byKruskal-Wallis test and Dunn's post-test. Regarding a significance level of 5%.
