Abstract

Noticing a lack of systematic studies on the concept of Amerindian rituals, as it is used in the ethnographies of the South-American lowland Indian peoples, the present research project seeks to review the ways rituals have been described in these studies since the 1980s. The aim of this project is compering the descriptive discourses about ritual without reducing them to the theoretical premises they are drawn, neither taking them as pure reflexes of different ethnographic realities.
