The present study aims to evaluate the effects of an educational group on bonding and responsive care in the gestational period. METHODS: This is a pragmatic clinical trial of a quantitative approach. The theoretical framework is based on the Essential Needs of Children, and the methodological reference in the translation of knowledge and popular education in health. The study will be conducted in a health outpatient clinic of a philanthropic care center located in a region of high social vulnerability in the city of São Paulo. Participants will be pregnant couples allocated to a control group or experimental group. The control group will receive the usual health care, consisting of individual consultations performed by health service professionals (doctors, nurses and social workers). The experimental group, in addition to receving the usual health care, will be invited to participate in the monthly educational group on bond and responsive care. The outcome will be evaluated through the maternal-fetal attachment scale translated and validated for the Brazilian reality. The project was approved by the management of the care center and by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of São Paulo.
