Abstract

The aim of this in vitro study is to evaluate the influence of conventional and bleaching dentifricies on the color and translucency of monolithic lithium disilicate (IPS e.max CAD) and zirconia ( Prettau® 4 Anterior®) ceramics after artificial aging. For each material, specimens (n=40) in bar format (12 x 10 x 1.5 mm) will be obtained and divided into the following groups: Control (n=20) and Stain (n=20) that will receive extrinsic characterization with its respective pigment (stains). Then they will be subjected to the artificial aging tests, as follows: 1-tooth brushing with conventional fluoride dentifrice (54,750 cycles, 2,0 N, 1,0 Hz - Colgate Total 12 Clean Mint, Colgate-Palmolive) + thermocycling (18,000 cycles, 5-55 ° C, 30 s ); 2- brushing with bleaching dentifrice (54,750 cycles, 2,0 N, 1,0 Hz - Colgate Total 12 Professional Whitening, Colgate-Palmolive) + thermocycling (18,000 cycles, 5-55 ° C, 30 s). The color change (”E) will be evaluated using a spectrophotometer (VITA Easyshade® V) according to CIELab parameters (L *, a * and b *) and CIEDE2000. The translucency (TP) of the samples will be evaluated on a white and black background before and after coloring. The obtained data will be submitted to the tests of normality and homoscedasticity for the selection of the most appropriate statistical method to be used for the analysis of the results. It will be adopted a significance level of 95%.
