Abstract Graphene and its derivatives, two-dimensional materials, have shown superlative properties about its surface area, mechanical e electrical properties, impermeability, among others. Based on these properties, the goal of this study is to develop poly(butylene-adipate-co-terephthalate)(PBAT)/graphene oxide (GO) polymer nanocomposite with high gas and water vapor barrier properties, preserving optical transparency, so it can be used as packaging materials. For this project, the nanocomposite will be prepared by melt mixing using a twin-screw extruder. To evaluate the dispersion, interaction and morphology of the PBAT/GO, will be used different GO loadings (0.3, 0.5 and 1 wt%); in addition, thermal, mechanical and gas barrier properties of the films will be characterized.
