Abstract

The self-excited aeroelastic instability of thin plates or shells in the supersonic regime is termed panel flutter, which is capable of causing serious structural failure in aircrafts and spacecrafts. Thus, a reliable modelling of such phenomenon is crucial for safely predicting the lifespan of aircraft skin. Therefore, the structural and aerodynamic models adopted must be adequate to describe the interaction between the aerodynamic, inertial and elastic forces of the system. In reality, aeronautical panels are typically composed of large panels internally reinforced. The presence of the stiffening components subdivides the panel into several cells able to interact structurally. Thereby, the present work proposes the study and the implementation of a computational model in finite element for the nonlinear flutter analysis of reinforced laminated curved panels. The temperature gradient effects will also be included, once it is an important factor in supersonic flow regime. The Marguerre plate theory will be applied to describe the behavior of the laminated curved panel combined with the von Kármán nonlinear strains. The aerodynamic loads of the model will be computed through the first-order piston theory, which is suitable for supersonic flow, and the static aerodynamic load term due to the curvature of the panel will also be accounted.
