Abstract

Our approach is to study in the national archives of Argentina and Uruguay the cartography of the southernmost region of the continent. The intention is to carry out comparative studies in the archives, visit libraries and bibliographies on the subject in the institutions of these countries. The exercise consists in practicing a critical reading of the 18th century military cartographic sources and capturing in the "between lines" between the maps that the war against the Indians began in the context of the confrontation known as the "Guaranitic War" (1753-1756 ). In addition, it will seek to know and investigate in the mentioned countries the ruins of the Jesuit missions to understand if the erasure and invalidation of the "Guaranitic War" in these places was as perverse as in Brazil.
