Abstract The main objective of the research is to identify and classify the national and international literature, based on the Social Sciences, which correlates illegal markets, criminal policies, prison living conditions with the formation and performance of organized criminal groups. The classification and analysis of the collected references is also concerned with identifying how the perceptions of the population regarding the legitimacy of crime control institutions are affected. A second objective of the project is to conduct an ethnographic survey of prisoners' relatives that provides elements for an analysis of the impacts of incarceration and prison living conditions (including the presence of organized criminal groups) on family members and territories who live. The research is part of NEV-USP's Building Democracy Daily: Human Rights, Violence and Institutional Trust (CEPID-FAPESP) on the axis Cities, Organized Crime and Prisons. (AU) | |
